Three ways to crop
- Auto-crop white margins: finds the content on each page and cuts away the empty border. A padding slider (0 to 20 mm) keeps some space around the text, and blank pages are never cropped to nothing.
- Exact margins: remove a set amount from the top, right, bottom and left of every page, in millimetres, centimetres, inches or points. Useful for print layouts, crop marks and bleed.
- Draw the crop frame: open the PDF editor, drag the frame over the area you want to keep and apply it to one page or all pages.
Made for real documents
Rotated pages are handled correctly, so the top margin is always the margin you see at the top. Scanned books can keep one page size for the whole document or use separate frames for left and right pages. You can crop only odd, even or selected pages, and process several PDFs at once with the same settings.
What cropping does and does not do
Cropping sets a new visible area for each page. Text stays selectable and searchable, and images keep their original quality. The parts outside the crop are hidden, not erased, so use a redaction tool if you need to remove sensitive content. When you are done, download the PDF or convert it to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG or PNG in the same dialog.

How do I crop white margins from a PDF automatically?
Choose Auto-crop white margins. Every page is rendered in your browser and scanned for non-white pixels, and the smallest box around them, plus the padding you set, becomes the new page area. Blank pages are never cropped to nothing.
Will all pages have the same size after cropping a PDF?
By default, yes: Auto-crop uses one frame that fits the content of every page, so nothing is cut off and the document stays consistent. For books you can use separate frames for odd and even pages, or fit each page tightly instead.
Does cropping a PDF delete the hidden content?
No. Cropping changes the visible page area (the MediaBox and CropBox), which is how PDF editors crop. The hidden part is still inside the file, so use a redaction tool, not cropping, to remove confidential information.
Can I crop only one page of a PDF?
Yes. Set Pages to crop to Custom pages and type one page number, such as 4, or a list such as 1-3, 5, 8-; odd or even pages only are also available. In the visual editor you can crop just the current page or apply the same frame to all pages.
Does cropping a PDF reduce quality or file size?
Quality stays exactly the same because text and images are not re-encoded. The file size usually stays about the same, since the content outside the crop is kept. To make the file smaller, run Compress PDF afterwards.
Can I crop a scanned or password-protected PDF?
Scanned PDFs work well, and the scanner-specks option ignores grey edges and dust. Password-protected or restricted PDFs must be unlocked first with the Unlock PDF tool, because their pages cannot be rewritten.
