Features

More than a plain text dump

Smart layout for every kind of text

Markdown becomes real headings, lists, quotes and code blocks. CSV and TSV files become tables with a repeated header row. JSON is pretty-printed and code gets a monospace font with line numbers.

Live preview and real page count

Every change to the font, size, spacing, margins or page size redraws page 1 of your PDF and shows how many pages it will have (an estimate for very long texts), before you convert.

Accents, Cyrillic and Greek supported

Text is read as UTF-8, UTF-16 or older Windows encodings and drawn with an embedded Unicode font when needed, so letters like ș, ț, ä, ж or λ come out right. The text stays selectable and searchable.

Paste, batch and combine

Paste text straight from the clipboard, or drop many files at once and get one PDF per file or a single combined PDF. Everything runs in your browser, free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

A text to PDF converter that respects your formatting

BestConverter turns any plain text into a tidy, paginated PDF. Instead of pouring every file into the same layout, it looks at what you give it. A Markdown file keeps its headings, bullet lists, quotes, tables and code blocks. A CSV or TSV export becomes a proper table with a header row on every page. A JSON file is indented so it can be read, and source code is set in a monospace font with optional line numbers, wrapped lines that keep their indentation and tabs expanded to real tab stops.

Options you can see before you convert

  • Fonts: sans, serif or monospace, or Auto to choose per file.
  • Page: A4, US Letter, US Legal, A5 or A3, portrait or landscape, with narrow, normal or wide margins.
  • Text: font size from 8 to 24 pt and single, 1.15, 1.5 or double line spacing.
  • Extras: line numbers, "Page 1 of N" footers, and a title on the first page or on every page.

The live preview shows page 1 exactly as it will be saved, together with the total page count. If the layout is guessed wrong, open Advanced options and force plain text, code, Markdown or table mode.

Old files and special characters

Text files come in many encodings. The converter detects UTF-8, UTF-16 and byte order marks, falls back to Windows-1252 for older files, and lets you pick another encoding if accents look wrong: if you see é instead of é, try Windows-1250 for Central European files or Windows-1251 for Cyrillic. In plain text and code, form feed characters start a new page; colour codes from terminal logs are removed. Characters outside the standard PDF fonts are drawn with an embedded Unicode font, so Romanian, Polish, Czech, Turkish, Greek and Russian text all work.

After the conversion

In the result window you can download your PDF or save it to My documents. A single PDF can also be opened in the PDF editor or turned into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG or PNG, and several PDFs can be downloaded together as a ZIP.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert text to PDF?

Choose one or more text files, or click "Or paste text" and type or paste your content. Pick the font, page size and margins while the preview updates, then click Convert to PDF and download the file.

Which file types can I convert to PDF?

Plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), CSV and TSV, log files, JSON, XML, YAML, INI and source code such as .js, .py, .java, .c, .cs, .html, .css or .sql. You can also paste any text without a file.

Will the text in the PDF be selectable and searchable?

Yes. The PDF contains real text, not images, so you can select, copy and search it in any PDF reader.

Can I convert a CSV file to a PDF table?

Yes. Each value goes into its own cell with thin grid lines, the first row is printed in bold and repeated on every page, and number columns are right-aligned. With orientation set to Auto, tables too wide for a portrait page get landscape pages.

Why do some characters show as empty boxes in my PDF?

The built-in fonts cover Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indic scripts and emoji are not included yet, so those characters appear as boxes, and right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew are not supported. The options window warns you before you convert.

Is it safe to convert private text files online?

Yes. Reading the text, laying out pages and writing the PDF all happen in your browser. Your files and pasted text are never uploaded to a server.
