How to convert a video
Upload one or more videos: MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, AVI and most other formats.
Pick MP4, WEBM, MOV, MKV, AVI, GIF, MP3, WAV or M4A, then set quality, resolution, trim or mute if you like.
Watch the real progress and download the converted file. The video never leaves your device.
A video converter that runs on your own device
No upload, no waiting in a queue
Conversion runs in your browser with the FFmpeg engine compiled to WebAssembly. Your video is never sent to a server, so private recordings stay private and there is no daily limit.
All the common formats
MP4 (H.264 + AAC) that plays everywhere, WEBM (VP8 + Vorbis) for the web, MOV for Apple apps and editors, MKV for media players, AVI for older devices, animated GIF, and MP3, WAV or M4A audio.
Trim, resize and mute in the same step
Cut a part with start and end times taken straight from the preview player, scale down from 4K to 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p (never upscaled), lower the frame rate or remove the sound track.
Honest progress and a Cancel button
The progress bar follows the real encoding position with a time-left estimate, and Cancel stops the work immediately. Large files get a clear warning before you start.
A free video converter that never uploads your files
Many online video converters upload your file to a server and make you wait in a queue. BestConverter does the whole job inside your browser with FFmpeg, the same open-source engine used by professional tools, compiled to WebAssembly. The engine (about 31 MB) is downloaded once and cached, and your video stays on your device from start to finish.
What you can do
- Change the format: MP4 (H.264 + AAC), WEBM (VP8 + Vorbis), MOV, MKV and AVI (MPEG-4 + MP3).
- Make a GIF: a two-pass colour palette gives clean animated GIFs; pick the width and frame rate to control the size.
- Keep only the sound: save the audio track as MP3, M4A or lossless WAV. MP3 and M4A show the expected file size before you start.
- Trim, resize and mute: keep only the part you need, scale down to 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p, lower the frame rate or remove the sound.
- Convert several videos at once with the same settings and download them all as a ZIP.
Tips for the best result
Balanced quality looks like the original at a sensible size; Smaller file is good for messaging apps and email, and High quality keeps the most detail. Phone videos recorded in portrait are rotated correctly. Converting in the browser uses your own processor and memory, so for long or 4K recordings choose a lower resolution or the Fastest speed, and keep files under about 500 MB on phones. GIFs grow quickly, so trim them to 10-15 seconds. If a file is damaged or uses a codec the engine cannot read, you get a clear message instead of a broken download. Your last format, quality and size settings are remembered for the next video.

Frequently asked questions
Is this video converter safe to use with private videos?
Yes. The converter engine is downloaded to your browser once (about 31 MB, then cached) and every step of the conversion happens on your device. Your video file is never sent to BestConverter or anyone else.
Which video format should I convert to?
MP4 is the safest choice: it plays on phones, computers, TVs and social networks. WEBM is best for websites. MOV suits Apple apps and video editors. GIF is for short silent clips. Choose MP3, WAV or M4A to keep only the sound.
How long does it take to convert a video online?
It depends on the length, the resolution and your device, because the work is done by your own processor in the browser, which is slower than a desktop app. Short phone clips are usually quick. For long or 4K videos choose 1080p or 720p and the Fastest speed in More options to finish much sooner.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but the browser has to hold the converted video in memory. Files under 500 MB work best. Very large files, especially over 2 GB, may fail on phones or computers with little memory; trimming or a lower resolution helps.
Can I trim a video while converting it?
Yes. Type a start and end time (for example 1:05 or 65.5) or play the preview and press "Use preview time". Only that part is converted. Trimming works when you convert a single video.
Can I convert several videos at once?
Yes. Select multiple files and they are all converted with the same format, quality and size settings, then downloaded together as a ZIP. A file that cannot be converted is skipped and named, so the rest still finish.
