A PDF that looks like your spreadsheet
Real text, not pictures
Every cell is written as selectable, searchable text with an embedded font, so the PDF stays sharp at any zoom, prints cleanly and can be copied from. Web links in cells stay clickable.
Keeps your formatting
Column widths, row heights, merged cells, number and date formats, bold and italic text, font colours, cell fills, borders, alignment and wrapped text are carried over from .xlsx files.
Pages that make sense
Fit all columns on one page width, keep the actual size or shrink a whole sheet onto one page. Auto orientation picks landscape for wide sheets, and the header row repeats at the top of every page.
See every page first
The live preview is drawn with the same layout as the PDF, and each sheet shows its page count, so you know exactly what you will get before you convert. No upload, no sign-up, no watermark.
Excel to PDF, done in your browser
A PDF is the safest way to send a spreadsheet to someone who should read it but not change it: it looks the same on every device, prints predictably and does not need Excel. BestConverter reads your workbook with SheetJS and draws each page as a vector PDF with the Liberation Sans font, directly on your device. The result has real, selectable text instead of a screenshot, so it stays small, sharp and searchable.
What is kept from your spreadsheet
- Cell values with their number, currency, percentage and date formats (dates in the short date format appear as m/d/yy).
- Column widths, row heights, hidden rows and columns, merged cells and wrapped text.
- Bold, italic and underlined text, font sizes and colours, cell fills and borders (from .xlsx and .xlsm files).
- Print area, repeated header rows, manual page breaks and landscape page setup.
Page layout options
Choose A4, Letter, Legal or A3 paper, narrow, normal or wide margins and portrait, landscape or automatic orientation. Gridlines, page numbers, the sheet name at the top of each page and a highlighted header row can be switched on or off. Wide sheets can be fitted to the page width, printed at actual size across several pages, or shrunk onto a single page.
Tips for a clean result
If only part of a sheet appears, the file probably has a print area: switch off "Use the print area" under More options. Hidden rows and columns are skipped unless you turn on "Include hidden rows and columns". When a sheet has no saved column widths, or you pick Fit to content, every column is sized to its content and very long text wraps inside the cell.
Several files at once
Drop several workbooks together and combine them into one PDF with bookmarks, or get one PDF per file or per sheet in a ZIP. Older .xls files, .xlsb, OpenDocument .ods and CSV are supported too; for these formats the values, widths and merged cells are kept, but fonts, fills and borders may be lost.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert only some sheets of an Excel file to PDF?
After you upload the workbook, every sheet is listed with its size and page count. Tick the ones you want; hidden and empty sheets start unticked. You can get one PDF with a bookmark per sheet, or one PDF per sheet in a ZIP.
How do I convert Excel to PDF without cutting off columns?
Choose Fit columns to width (the default). All columns are scaled to fit the page width and Auto orientation switches wide sheets to landscape. For extremely wide sheets the text is never shrunk below 30%; the remaining columns continue on extra pages instead, so it stays readable.
Does the converter use my Excel print settings?
Partly. In .xlsx and .xlsm files the print area, rows to repeat at the top (print titles), manual page breaks and a landscape page setup are respected, and frozen header rows are used as the repeated header when no print titles are set. Excel headers and footers, custom scaling percentages and print order are not read; use the options in the converter instead.
Are formulas, charts and images included in the PDF?
Formulas appear as the result last saved in the file, formatted the way Excel shows them. Charts, pictures, shapes, comments and conditional formatting are not drawn in the PDF.
Can I convert a CSV file to PDF?
Yes. CSV and TSV files are read as UTF-8 (or Windows-1252 if needed), commas, semicolons and tabs are detected, values are kept exactly as typed (leading zeros stay), numbers are right-aligned and columns are sized to their content.
Is it safe to convert confidential spreadsheets here?
Yes. The workbook is read and the PDF is created by your own browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to BestConverter or anyone else, which makes it suitable for payroll, invoices and other private data.
