How to convert WEBP to PNG
Choose one WEBP image or a whole batch. Add or remove files at any time.
Check the before/after preview, then pick Lossless or Smaller PNG and, if you like, a size or background.
Download each PNG or all of them as one ZIP. Nothing leaves your device.

Transparency kept, visibly
Transparent and semi-transparent areas stay transparent in the PNG. The preview sits on a checkerboard with a draggable before/after divider and a 100% zoom, so you can see exactly what you get.
Lossless, and as small as possible
Lossless mode keeps every pixel. In current browsers it also tries an exact palette PNG (logos and icons with up to 256 colours) or an optimised full-colour PNG, and keeps whichever file is smallest.
Smaller PNG when size matters
Need lighter files for a website? Smaller PNG reduces images to 16-256 colours with smooth dithering and still keeps transparency. The real size of both options is measured on your own image.
Batch, resize and ZIP
Convert dozens of images in one go, resize them to a maximum side or a percentage, add a solid background if needed, and download everything as one ZIP. No upload, no account, no watermark.
Convert WEBP to PNG without losing transparency
WEBP is the image format many websites use today because it makes small files. But plenty of apps, older image editors, presentation tools and upload forms still expect PNG or JPG. Converting to PNG is the safe choice when your image has a transparent background, sharp text or flat colours: PNG is lossless, supports full transparency and opens everywhere.
BestConverter converts WEBP to PNG directly in your browser. You see a before/after preview on a checkerboard, so transparent areas are obvious, and the real size of the PNG is measured on your own image before you download anything. With several files, you also get a rough total for the whole batch.
Lossless or Smaller PNG?
- Lossless PNG keeps every pixel. For logos, icons and screenshots with up to 256 colours it writes an exact palette PNG, which is often much smaller than a standard PNG, with no change at all to the image.
- Smaller PNG reduces photos and complex graphics to a palette of 16 to 256 colours, with optional dithering to avoid colour bands, the same idea used by popular lossy PNG optimisers. Transparency is kept, and if the reduced file would not be smaller, the lossless PNG is used instead.
Tips
- A PNG of a photo is usually bigger than the WEBP. If you only need a widely supported photo, WEBP to JPG makes a much smaller file.
- Use Resize to fit images to a longest side from 512 px up to 3840 px, a percentage or a custom width and height; it never enlarges.
- Animated WEBP files become a still PNG of the first frame, or every frame as PNGs in a ZIP where your browser supports it.
- Files that are really PNG images with a .webp name are detected and, in Lossless mode without resizing or a background, kept exactly as they are.
- Your last settings are remembered in this browser, so the next batch opens with the same options.

Frequently asked questions
Does converting WEBP to PNG keep transparency?
Yes. PNG supports full alpha transparency, so transparent backgrounds and soft edges stay transparent. If you need a solid background instead, choose White, Black or any custom colour in the Background option.
Will I lose quality converting WEBP to PNG?
No. In Lossless mode the PNG looks exactly like the WEBP your browser decodes; half-transparent pixels can shift by a tiny rounding step at most. Smaller PNG reduces the number of colours on purpose and tells you so.
Why is my PNG bigger than the WEBP file?
WEBP, especially lossy WEBP, compresses much more than PNG, which is lossless. A PNG of a photo is often several times larger than the WEBP. Use Smaller PNG, or Resize, to get a lighter file; the options window shows the real size of each choice before you convert.
Can I convert an animated WEBP to PNG?
PNG cannot store animation, so by default the first frame becomes a still PNG. In browsers that can read every frame (current Chrome and Edge, for example) you can instead get each frame as a separate PNG inside a ZIP.
How do I convert multiple WEBP files to PNG at once?
Select or drop as many WEBP images as you like, add more or remove some in the options window, and convert them all with the same settings. Download each PNG separately or everything as one ZIP file.
Is it safe to convert WEBP to PNG online here?
Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your images are never uploaded and there is no file limit other than your device memory. On phones, very large images may need the Resize option.
