Features

Everything you need to sign a PDF online

Draw, type or upload

Draw with a mouse, finger or stylus, type your name in a handwriting-style font, or upload a photo or scan of your signature. Drawn and typed signatures can use any ink colour.

Place it exactly

Scroll to any page, place the signature, then drag it into position and resize it with the handles. Add it as many times as you need, plus text for the date, your name or initials, and check marks for forms.

Private by design

The PDF is opened and signed in your browser. It is never uploaded, so contracts, IDs and invoices stay on your device.

Free, no sign-up, no watermark

No account, no trial and no email address required. The signed PDF is clean, and you can download it, print it or convert it to Word, JPG or PNG.

Sign PDF online without printing or scanning

Printing a contract, signing it with a pen and scanning it back takes time and produces a blurry, heavy file. With BestConverter you sign the PDF online in a few seconds, on a computer, tablet or phone. The file is opened and signed in your browser, so it is never uploaded anywhere.

Three ways to create your signature

  • Draw it with a mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus. Choose the ink colour, for example dark blue so it looks hand signed.
  • Type your name and it is rendered in a handwriting-style font available on your device.
  • Upload an image of your real signature. Use a PNG with a transparent background for the cleanest result.

Tips for a clean signed PDF

  • Scroll to the page with the signature line before placing the signature: it lands on the page you are viewing.
  • Add the date and your printed name with Add text, and tick boxes with the Check tool.
  • Click Done to download the PDF, or convert the signed document to Word, JPG or PNG from the same window.
  • Sign one PDF at a time. If a file is protected with an open password, remove it with Unlock PDF first.

What kind of signature is this?

The result is a simple electronic signature: an image of your signature embedded in the page. It is widely accepted for everyday paperwork, but it is not a certificate-based digital signature and does not verify who signed. For documents that legally require an advanced or qualified signature, use a certified signing service.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I sign a PDF online?

Upload the PDF and the signature window opens. Draw your signature, type your name or upload an image, then click Place signature. Drag it to the right spot, resize it, and click Done to download the signed file.

Is a signature added this way legally binding?

It is a simple electronic signature, which the EU (eIDAS) and the US (ESIGN Act and UETA) recognise for many everyday agreements, forms and invoices. It is not a certificate-based digital signature, so it does not prove your identity or lock the file against later changes. Papers that need a qualified signature, a witness or wet ink (some property, family or notarised documents) should be signed another way; when in doubt, ask the recipient or a lawyer.

Is my document uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is read, signed and saved by your own browser. Nothing is sent to our servers unless you choose to save the result to My documents while logged in, which keeps a copy in your account.

How do I add the date or my initials?

Use the Add text tool in the editor toolbar to type the date, your printed name or initials next to the signature. For initials in handwriting, open Sign again and draw or type them as a second, smaller signature.

Can I use a photo of my handwritten signature?

Yes. Choose Upload in the signature window and pick the image. A PNG with a transparent background looks best; a photo or JPG keeps its paper background, so crop it tightly and use good light.

Can I sign a PDF that has a password?

If the PDF needs a password to open, remove it first with the Unlock PDF tool and sign the unlocked copy. If a PDF already carries a digital certificate signature, adding your signature creates a new copy and the original certificate will no longer show as valid, so keep the original too.
