Features

A WEBP to JPG converter that shows you the result first

Real sizes, not guesses

The quality slider and the four presets show the exact JPG size measured on your own image, and a before/after slider with 100% zoom lets you check the quality before you convert. For a batch you also get an estimated total.

Transparency done right

JPG cannot store transparency, so you choose what fills transparent areas: white, black, light grey or any colour. Edges are blended smoothly, without the black or jagged borders some converters leave.

Batch, resize and ZIP

Convert dozens of WEBP files in one go with the same settings, optionally shrink them to Full HD, 4K, a percentage or a custom size, and download everything as a single ZIP.

Private by design

Images are converted in your browser and never uploaded. Metadata is removed by default for privacy, or kept if you switch on "Keep photo metadata". No account, no watermark, no limits on the number of files.

Convert WEBP to JPG without surprises

WEBP is the image format many websites use today because it is small, but plenty of apps, older programs, printers, online forms and email clients still expect JPG. BestConverter turns your WEBP images into standard JPG files in your browser, so they open everywhere, and it shows you the result before you commit: the quality slider displays the real file size measured on your image, and a draggable before/after slider lets you compare details at 100% zoom.

What you can control

  • JPEG quality from 30% to 100%, with Small (60%), Web (75%), High (90%) and Maximum (100%) presets that each show their real size.
  • Background colour for transparent areas, because JPG cannot store transparency.
  • Resize to 4K, Full HD, 1280 px, 800 px, a percentage or a custom maximum width and height. Images are never enlarged.
  • Metadata: removed by default, or kept when you need the camera data and date.
  • Animated WEBP: the first frame, or every frame as separate JPGs where your browser supports it.

Which quality to pick

For photos you will print or edit again, stay at High. For a website, a blog or an email attachment, Web is usually indistinguishable on screen and noticeably lighter. Small suits thumbnails and previews where file size matters more than fine detail. Your last settings are remembered the next time you open the tool.

Good to know

JPG files are usually larger than the WEBP they come from, because WEBP compresses more efficiently. Lowering the quality a little or reducing the dimensions brings the size down quickly. If your WEBP is a logo, icon or screenshot with sharp edges or transparency, PNG is often the better target, since JPG is designed for photos. Files that are really JPGs with a .webp name are detected and simply renamed (unless you resize them), without losing any quality. If one file in a batch cannot be read, it is skipped and listed at the end while the rest are converted.

Everything happens on your device: no upload, no account and no watermark, and you can convert as many images as you like.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert WEBP to JPG without losing quality?

Keep the default 90% (High) quality and the original dimensions: photos look practically identical to the WEBP. Use the before/after slider at 100% zoom to check fine details before you download.

Why is my JPG bigger than the WEBP file?

WEBP compresses better than JPG, so the same picture usually needs more bytes as a JPG. The quality slider shows the exact size before you convert: around 75-85% is a good balance for the web, and the Resize option makes files much smaller if you do not need the full dimensions.

What happens to a transparent background when converting WEBP to JPG?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels are blended onto a background colour. White is the default; you can pick black, light grey or any custom colour. If none of your images has transparency, the tool tells you so and the colour has no effect.

Can I convert an animated WEBP to JPG?

A JPG cannot move, so by default the first frame of an animated WEBP becomes the JPG and the tool tells you which files are animated. In browsers that support the ImageDecoder API (current Chrome and Edge, for example) you can instead save every frame as a separate JPG, packed in a ZIP per animation.

Does converting WEBP to JPG keep camera data and GPS location?

By default no: converting removes EXIF metadata such as camera model, date and GPS location, which is better for privacy. If you want to keep it, switch on "Keep photo metadata (EXIF)" and the EXIF block of the WEBP is copied into the JPG, with the orientation set to upright because the pixels are already rotated.

Is it safe to convert WEBP to JPG online?

Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device and there is no daily limit. The only limit is your device memory: very large images on a phone may need the Resize option.
